About Us

Rev. Billy Humphrey and his wife, Sarah, have pastored the Brooklyn Church of God since August of 2003. They were married in January of 2000 and have three children; Seth, Luke and Lela. Pastor Billy studied Theology and Biblical Studies at Lee University and is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God. Sarah studied Music Education at the University of Maryland and works in the community promoting environmental awareness. They have been serving in full-time ministry at BCoG since June of 2002. It is their desire to lead Brooklyn Church of God as a multi-cultural, purpose-driven, contemporary Pentecostal church. They work hard daily to serve the people of southern Baltimore City and northern Anne Arundel County in a way that points people to Christ.

Where do my kids go?
We have children’s ministry for newborns through 5th grade on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. We also have a Youth Ministry for 6th through 12th grade on Wednesday Nights. However, if you prefer to keep your children in the worship service with you, please feel free to do so.

Can I meet the pastor?
Absolutely! Pastor Billy and Sarah love to meet new people! After Sunday and Wednesday services they regularly greet our guests. In fact, they have a special gift waiting just for you in the Welcome Center located in the front of the Church.

What do I wear?

No matter what your personal style, you should feel comfortable. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you. While slacks and skirts are popular, if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us!

The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We Believe:

1. In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.

2. In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.

5. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.

7. Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.

8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.

9. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

10. In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
